Zzzen

Short Film/Comedy, France 2015

Somewhere in an impassable, archaically beautiful mountain landscape, a young monk is on a meditative pilgrimage. His only companion in the sublime landscape is a chicken, a proud bird in a magnificent feather robe. But his inner peace comes to an abrupt end: a mosquito escapes from a stone monument and changes the course of everything. This captivating animated film brings together meaningful comedy and the sheer joy of discovering positive outcomes from ominous collateral damage. Titled "Zzzen," the film draws its inspiration from the Zen Buddhist sitting meditation practice, Zazen, which aims to bring body and mind to peace and lead meditators towards enlightenment. The film was the brainchild of fifth-year animation students from RUBIKA, a renowned French film school that has been nurturing highly skilled creatives for over three decades, excelling in 3D animation, video game development, and design. With four campus branches, including locations in Canada and India, RUBIKA enjoys a global reputation for excellence in creative education. This short film serves as a remarkable showcase of the school's talent and creativity, and is a testament to the power of imagination and the possibilities of animation.
